Imagine telling your co-worker, a new L&D nurse, to "stand near by"
cuz you have a weird feeling about this 16 yr old 32 weeker who just
came in complaining of cramping. Your co-worker gives you a strange
look, and then an even stranger look when you call OB, CRNA, and Peds RN
after only a short time and you insist they all come in NOW, while she
still sees just tiny humps on the monitor for UC's. Imagine that this
baby arrives a few short minutes later and survives because you
"listened" to the premonition, and everyone was there. The baby was born
with Gastroschesis (forgive the spelling it's been a while), but
survives surgery at a NICU a ambulance ride away and goes home with her
parents sometime later. Imagine the look and thoughts of your new
partner in L&D as she says with wonder, "how did you know?" and you just
smile ;-) Imagine enjoying the joy of the birth of a beautiful full term infant
one night with a NICU nurse who was enjoying a less busy night, so came
to help instead of the newborn nursery nurse, who was swamped. Then
imagine saying goodbye forever to that same nurse, following her death
the very next night of asthma in the ER of your hospital. Now she greets
all those preemies who left your arms for those of Heavenly Father and
you know they have a great nurse to help them to their new place in
