Imagines...

Pauline

Imagine... ... being pregnant on the first attempt (with your first child, it took two years to become pregnant).

... being in an ambulance at 30 weeks of gestation asking the ambulance man to help you figure out the route because you know the ambulance will pass by your parent's where you need to leave your first son. You are thinking about your first son, talking to him mentally "Be good little man with your grand-parents, mommy is thinking of you!"

...being in 3 hospitals in 24 hours. Transferred two times because no hospital in your area is equipped to receive premature babies.

... sharing your hospital room with the mother of a full-term baby, seeing all the flowers and the gifts she received, hearing the nurses say how beautiful her baby is and look at your side of the room seeing no flowers, no gifts and asking yourself if somebody will think that your baby is beautiful with all the wires.

...your husband loosing his job because of the birth of your premature baby.

...having tears in your eyes seeing your son taking the bus and going to kindergarten not only because he is your last child but because not so long ago, in the NICU you were wondering if one day you will ever see him walk.

... having friends all around the world who can share with you about prematurity when your friend next door can not understand.

Just imagine...

Pauline, mother of Vincent (40++ weeker), 7 1/2 years old and Marc-Antoine (31 weeker), 6 years old Quebec, Canada
