Imagine sitting at your desk 31 weeks and 5 days pregnant and your back starts to spasm in 5 minute intervals.....
Imagine after going to your DR being admitted and told (by the nurses)you aren't in labor, it is just gastrointestinal pain because the monitor doesnt pick up back labor.
Imagine the next morning being told the baby's heart is decellerating and you are being transferred to MUSC in case your water breaks.
Imagine infiltrated IVs, inability to swallow pills, on mag and off mag for 5 days.
Imagine your best friend coming to sit with you in ante partum and demanding you be given nubain for the pain
Imagine losing your mucous plug and the nurse denying it
Imagine waking up at 3 AM because you r water has broken in your bed and your husband has just gone home to get some rest.
Imagine telling everyone in the room you and the baby are going to die when the epidural quits working and you are at 7 cms.
Imagine seeing the look on your husband's face when your son is born and you had been told over and over he was a girl :-)
Imagine this perfect little man coming home after a month with an apnea monitor
Finally imagine he is almost 7 months old, almost 17 pounds, eating solids, leapfrog crawling, and babbling to you when you pick him up after work....
There is no greater reward! Thank you MUSC, Trident Hospital, and my family!
Merry Christmas 2001!
