EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique (also called tapping) is an emotional version of acupuncture without needles. When we have an emotional issue we would like to address we can use this simple technique to help us move through and process the issue in a very short period of time. Properly done, this frequently reduces the therapeutic process from months or years down to hours or minutes. And, since emotional stress can contribute to pain, disease and physical ailments, we often find that EFT provides astonishing physical relief.

When we have emotional issues such as anger, fear, anxiety, or depression it can often be traced back to an experience that occurred early in life; during our infancy, birth, or even our own gestation. We may or may not be able to find out if we had a difficult birth or emotional distress during our infancy, but even we if are not clear as to the experience we can still use the tapping to clear the possibility of something that may have happened. Tapping is a simple and effective way to work on letting go of the energy we are still holding from the past as well as any energy from our current situation that may be causing us to feel unhealthy emotionally.

When our children are struggling with an emotional issue we can help them by using EFT to release and move through their issues such as anger, anxiety, fear, school challenges, social isolations, etc. EFT even works on infants. It’s extremely important to understand that when our children are struggling we must always ask ourselves, “What part of this is mine?” As parents, we have to address and tap out any issues of our own that might be adding to the child’s problem. For example, if your child was born prematurely or had a difficult birth, you are probably holding some of your own stress around the incident. Tapping out any negative emotional memory around your own life experiences or your child’s experiences is crucial to their processing their own. Another example might be, when our child is facing social problems at school, we should remember our own school experiences and tap out what we might still be holding from that situation. Our children are our greatest teachers.
